ABOUT THE AWARD
Texas has a world-renowned legacy of leadership in medical education and
research. Offering a body of knowledge, hands-on instruction, words of wisdom
and a shoulder to lean on, our teaching physicians and nurses shape the future
of discovery and patient care.
Each year the TIAA-CREF Distinguished Medical Educator Award honors one outstanding individual in the Texas medical community who exemplifies the qualities of leadership, inspiration, guidance, dedication, nurturing and influence in their work and their community.
Who is eligible?
Any Texas medical educator is eligible to receive the award.
The ideal candidate has a long history of significant contributions to medical
education and
has impacted medical education positively both nationally and internationally.
Nominees will be grouped as medical (teaching physician) or non-medical
(nurse, doctorate or equivalent professional
designation) in the evaluation process.
$10,000 Honorarium
TIAA-CREF, in partnership with the The Health Museum , will honor one recipient at an awards ceremony in the fall of 2008. The honoree will receive a $10,000 honorarium and 20 scholarships
will be donated in
his/her name to students attending the Museum's Mini Medical School Summer
